But in recent days, new news came from TSMC, and the situation is like this.
TSMC has officially announced that it will invest 230 billion yuan to build a 2nm chip factory, which will be located in the Zhongke Park in Taiwan Province, with a construction area of ​​about 100 hectares.
In addition, the 1nm chip factory is also being prepared and will also be located in the China Science Park.
You know, in addition to the 2nm and 1nm chip factories, TSMC has been actively expanding its chip factories for a long time to prepare for the production of 3nm chips.
According to the news released by TSMC, TSMC will mass produce 3nm process chips as scheduled in 2022, and the time will be in the fourth quarter of 2022. The first batch of production capacity will be shared by Apple and Intel.


In other words, TSMC’s 3nm, 2nm and 1nm chip factories are here.
This means that although TSMC does not currently produce 3nm, 2nm, and 1nm chips, it has the ability to build 3nm, 2nm, and 1nm chip production plants.
The United States has always wanted TSMC’s most advanced chip manufacturing technology. TSMC only builds 5nm chip production in the United States, but builds 3nm, 2nm and 1nm chip factories in Taiwan Province, which is tantamount to TSMC’s showdown.
And TSMC chooses to showdown at this time, which is equivalent to telling the United States that TSMC is building a 5nm chip production line in the United States, which is not the most advanced chip production line.


Although 3nm, 2nm and 1nm chips cannot be produced for the time being, TSMC has the ability to build production lines for 3nm, 2nm and 1nm chips.
