Apple finally made a move on ARM! Huawei Ren Zhengfei is right

Among mobile phone chips, the most powerful chip belongs to Apple's A series. After Samsung, Qualcomm and others release new processors, their performance is often slightly behind Apple.
On the one hand, it is because Apple's self-developed chips are only used in its own devices and often use the most advanced technology. On the other hand, Apple is willing to invest in chips, regardless of cost, unlike Samsung and Qualcomm.
That is to say, because of the powerful performance of Apple's chips, Qualcomm has repeatedly stated that it will surpass Apple, and even poached Apple's chip designers.

Despite this, Apple's core is strong, but it also has its own worries, that is, Apple chips are based on the ARM architecture, and in September 2020, Nvidia stated that it would acquire ARM at a price of 40 billion U.S. dollars.
For Nvidia's acquisition of ARM, most mobile chip companies are opposed to it. Companies such as Huawei, Qualcomm, Tesla, Amazon, and even Apple have formed an alliance to oppose Nvidia's acquisition of ARM.
Because companies such as Apple Qualcomm are worried that once ARM is acquired by Nvidia, ARM's business model will change. After all, Nvidia and ARM have business overlaps, and Nvidia's acquisition of ARM is also to enhance the competitiveness of its own processors.

But what I didn't expect is that Apple has finally made a move on ARM recently, and the situation is like this.
It is reported that Apple has always developed chips based on the ARM architecture. Even the M series of desktop chips developed by Apple is based on the ARM architecture.
However, as Nvidia continues to promote the acquisition, Apple has also made other preparations, and it is ready to use the RISC-V architecture to develop chips, and it has begun to recruit relevant technical personnel.
More coincidentally, Apple's GPU supplier Imagination also began to test RSIC-V technology, and plans to develop and design GPUs based on this architecture.

You know, RSIC-V is also an open source architecture, which allows manufacturers to develop and design chips based on its architecture technology. Although it is not as well-known as ARM, its market is gradually opening up.
After all, domestic manufacturers have already developed chips based on the RSIC-V architecture, and the performance is also very strong; Intel is already preparing for the acquisition of RSIC-V.
At this time, Apple began to recruit new technical personnel to research and develop related technologies such as RSIC-V. This means that Apple has begun to prepare. Once an accident occurs, it may abandon the ARM architecture and purchase the open source RSIC-V architecture.
Apple is ready to use the RSIC-V architecture against ARM, which also shows that Huawei Ren Zhengfei is right.

In terms of chips, Huawei Ren Zhengfei has always insisted on independent research and development. Back then, Huawei HiSilicon did not make money at all, and even lost money. Ren Zhengfei insisted on investing to support the development of Huawei HiSilicon.
After Huawei HiSilicon successfully passed the Kirin chip and the Balong chip, Ren Zhengfei was not satisfied with it, but let Huawei HiSilicon take further roots and conduct independent research and development of the chip architecture.
Because Huawei's HiSilicon chip also uses the ARM architecture, once ARM has problems, it will directly affect HiSilicon, so Huawei has self-developed the DaVinci architecture and used it in Kirin and

After the U.S. revised the rules, Huawei HiSilicon chips were temporarily unable to produce and manufacture. However, Huawei still maintains Huawei HiSilicon and said that it will not give up HiSilicon, and has no profitability requirements for HiSilicon.
The most important thing is that Huawei HiSilicon has also continuously launched recruitment, successively starting the recruitment of fresh PhDs and fresh graduates. Among the chip talents recruited by Huawei, there are positions such as chip architecture.
In other words, in terms of chip architecture, Huawei has been working hard not only to have the Da Vinci architecture used by the NPU, but also to have an architecture for chips such as processors.

Simply put, in terms of chip architecture, Huawei must also implement independent research and development and master core technologies.
Now it seems that Huawei Ren Zhengfei is right, because the United States has changed the rules, and also because Apple has begun to walk on multiple legs, and is always ready to adopt RSIC-V technology. It is unstable to rely too much on a certain manufacturer or without core technology.
