Intel processor out of stock can be solved immediately

Release on : Jul 30, 2019

Intel just disclosed its second-quarter earnings, with revenues of $16.5 billion, down 3% from $17 billion in the same period last year, and net profit of $4.2 billion, down 17% from $5 billion in the same period last year. Second-quarter revenue and net profit are declining, partly because Intel is slowly transitioning to the 10nm process. Intel has already announced that the new 10nm Ice Lake processor will begin shipping, such as the latest Dell XPS. 2-in-1 has begun to use Ice Lake's 10th generation mobile Core Low Voltage Processor.

Intel CEO Si Ruibo mentioned in the earnings conference that Intel lost some market share in the second quarter. In the previous period when it was affected by the lack of capacity, Intel could only try to focus on high-end products, and could not take into account the cheaper chip production. Previously at a summit, Bob Swan publicly stated that Intel would enter the 7nm process node in 2021. In his prediction, Intel's 7nm process can compete with competitors' 5nm process.

Since the 14nm capacity crisis broke out in Q3 last year, Intel officials have been emphasizing that they will solve the shortage problem as soon as possible, and adjust the product supply priority for this. High-end products such as Xeon and Core are preferred, and low-end products are listed. At the end, the most serious shortage is the low-end products.

Intel officially stated that it will completely solve the shortage problem before the end of this year. According to the latest report of Susquehanna analysts, Intel still has a small portion of out-of-stocks in the Asia-Pacific region, which is about 3-5%. The latest will be resolved in August and September this year.

Although Intel quickly solved the shortage problem, the CPU market share is still declining, especially in the desktop processor market. According to the tracking data of Sasquehanna, the share of Intel desktop processors has dropped to 81%. They tracked the lowest point of Intel since this data.

Intel has prioritized the supply of products to solve the shortage problem, giving priority to high-end products, such as high-end Xeon, Core i7, etc., while low-end products are finally available, so the shortage of low-end products is even more serious. . Of course, in the face of the challenges of AMD's three generations of Ruilong, Intel did not choose to push new products or cut prices to fight, but instead focus on the data center market, although it will lose a certain consumer processor market, but It is also a good choice.
