Honeywell Introduces New Compact MEMS IMU for High-Precision Navigation

Phát hành vào : 30 thg 9, 2019

According to MEMS Consulting, Honeywell recently introduced two new compact and lightweight Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) for high-precision navigation. This compact sensor can withstand harsh air, land or underwater environments and serves markets such as agriculture, robotics, mapping, driverless cars and transportation.

HGuide i300 IMU

Both products are based on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), one of which is designed to replace the fiber optic gyro (FOG) IMU, which typically offers a higher performance rating than MEMS IMUs.

HGuide i300 IMU's target markets include industrial applications such as autonomous vehicle testing, precision agriculture, mapping, pipeline inspection, platform control and motion compensation. The HGuide i300 is Honeywell's smallest member of the MEMS IMU family that is not regulated by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). The unit measures 14 mm × 42 mm × 28 mm, weighs 35 g and consumes 0.5 w. It is suitable for agriculture, autonomous vehicles (AUV), communications, industrial equipment, marine, oil and gas, robotics, mapping, stable platforms. , transportation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and unmanned ground vehicles (UGV). At the same time, the HGuide i300 IMU has two different performance levels.

The HG4930 S-Class IMU provides high bandwidth and high data rates for devices that require precise stability, including satellite communications antennas and optical sensors such as cameras. The unit can also be used as an alternative to the smaller, lower power and cost effective FOG IMU. The HG4930 S-Class is available from stock in three different performance levels. The unit is also a MEMS-based IAU-free IMU measuring 35.5 cm x 5 cm x 65 cm and weighs 140 g, consuming less than 3 w.

Both products feature a range of user-changeable options with selectable output data rates and filtering, as well as a variety of configurable communication protocols.

To date, Honeywell has delivered more than 500,000 navigation devices for a variety of aerospace and spacecraft flying today. The company plans to supply products to emerging market segments such as urban air mobility, autonomous vehicles, precision agriculture and robotics.
