STMicroelectronics Releases Low Distortion High Voltage LED Driver

Release on : Sep 18, 2019

On September 17, 2019, STMicroelectronics announced the HVLED007AC/DC LED driver. The HVLED007AC/DC uses a new distortion-suppressed input current shaping (ICS) circuit to enable energy-efficient solid-state luminaires to meet increasingly stringent lighting regulations.

HVLED007

HVLED007 is a peak current mode PFC controller specifically designed for isolated high power factor quasi-resonant flyback converters. The ICS circuit ensures that the grid input current is truly sinusoidal alternating current, input over the entire load and input voltage range. Current Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is extremely low, less than 5% at full load. With a power factor close to 1 and a maximum energy efficiency of over 90%, the HVLED007 allows designers to drive multiple medium and high power LED lighting fixtures up to 80W with just one control IC.

HVLED007 complements ST's HVLED series of digital IC products that directly drive LED luminaires with grid rectified power supplies. The HVLED driver integrates advanced features to support economical primary side regulation, reducing material cost and circuit size while improving system reliability and lighting performance.

The HVLED007 has a minimum operating temperature of -40 ° C and can be used for outdoor lighting such as street lights and indoor lighting. The totem pole output stage source current is 600mA, and the current is 800mA. In addition to lighting applications, HVLED007 can also be used for EN61000-3-2 standard switching power supply up to 100W. On-chip protection features include short-circuit protection, overload protection and overvoltage protection.

The HVLED007 is now in production and is available in an industry-standard SO8 small package.
